Remnants of Hurricane Ian cause few problems locally

KILMARNOCK—Although the area was prepared for the worst, Hurricane Ian did not pose much of a problem for residents in Lancaster and Northumberland counties.
In advance of the storm, Gov. Glenn Youngkin on Thursday announced a State of Emergency starting Friday, September 30, when Ian arrived and brought with it 40 m.p.h. winds, according to the National Weather Service.
Northern Neck Electric Cooperative reported the storm knocked out power to 1,740 houses in King George, Lancaster and Northumberland on Friday afternoon, but all was restored….
