HEATHSVILLE—A year-long process and a journey from a cornfield to a place of prominence came to an end on Saturday, October 15, with a solemn and historical procession along Back Street in Heathsville.
With a horse-drawn hearse escorted by a War of 1812 Society of Virginia color guard, a riderless horse, mourners, the Kilmarnock & District Pipe Band and members of Heathsville Masonic Lodge 105, the remains of Capt. Griffin Henry Foushee (1793-1844) were brought to a final resting place in front of his former business, Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern.
