It takes a lot to get the notice of Richmond television stations for folks in the Northern Neck, but the volunteers at Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern in Heathsville found a way to score when they planned a historical funeral procession last month.
TV reporter Greg McQuade with WTVR CBS Channel 6 visited the Tavern in October when he found out about the reinterring of the remains of Capt. Griffin Foushee, a veteran of the War of 1812 and a former owner of the Tavern during the mid-1800s, reported executive director Corinne Becker.
The event took place during the Heathsville Farmers Market and included a funeral procession with a horse-drawn hearse, bagpipers….
