Westmoreland and Lancaster finish first and second in district wrestling tourney

Lancaster produced five champions last Saturday in the Northern Neck District wrestling tournament and Red Devils senior DJ Zeiler was honored as co-wrestler of the year.

Zeiler went unbeaten with three pins as the gold medalist in the 138 weight class and shared wrestler of the year honors with Westmoreland’s 113 champion Isaiah Castellanos.

The Eagles also had five district gold medalists to win the team trophy with 224 points. Lancaster was the district runner-up with 199 points, Essex third with 167 and Northumberland fourth with 66.

Lancaster coach Craig Oren also was chosen by his peers as the district coach of the year.
