Northumberland girls beat Northampton, 2-1

Tahi Wiggins scored two first-half goals to lead Northumberland over Northampton, 2-1, in varsity girls soccer last week. Wiggins’ first goal came six minutes into the game on an assist from Tiffany White. She scored her second unassisted at the 13-minute mark.

The Yellow Jackets’ only goal came on a penalty kick in the second half.

Annie Newsome, Shelby Sprague and Grace Emminizer led the Lady Indians’ defense and goalkeeper Addie Swisher had seven saves.

In junior varsity soccer, the Lady Indians’ Cameron Lewis scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Northampton. Trinity Taylor had the assists on Lewis’ goals.

Midfielders Sophia Pugh, Nigeria Ball and Morgan Ransome led the Indians defense.

Goalkeeper Jean Jett had five saves in the game.
