Rappahannock High School, which won the Northern Neck District championship and went on to the semifinals of Region A play, took the two top honors in the district and placed six on the all-district first team.
Senior Candace Slaw was named the player of the year and Rappahannock’s Ellen Gaines was selected coach of the year. Slaw, who was also a first-team selection at shortstop, garnered her third district player of the year honor for 2022-23. She was also co-district and Region A player of the year in volleyball and district and region player of the year in girls basketball.
