97 boats compete in 15th Lancaster County Little League Spanish Mackerel Tournament

Wayne Englehart of New Kent displays the biggest single catch of the day, a citation 6.20-pound Spanish mackerel.

The annual Lancaster County Little League Spanish Mackerel Tournament continues to grow, according to director Amy Forrester.

The 15th annual installment held Saturday, August 19, included a record 97 boats and over 50 raffle prizes donated from 26 businesses.

“We were thrilled with the turnout. Anglers reported rough seas early in the day with the wind subsiding and finishing out calm by the afternoon,” said Forrester. “The annual tournament tees were once again a hit.”

Boats weighed in their four largest fish for a combined total weight. Wayne Englehart of New Kent finished atop the leaderboard. Englehart, fishing aboard PaPa’s Dream, won first prize with a total weight of 12.40 pounds. He also reeled in the biggest fish of….
