WHITE STONE—The White Stone Town Council has scheduled a special meeting to quickly adopt a proposed $85,000 amendment to its fiscal year 2024 budget, originally adopted in June. The special meeting is set for 6 p.m. tonight, November 9, at the Town Hall, 433 Rappahannock Drive, White Stone.
The amendment will add a public utilities category to the budget, which covers operator expenses, debt service, utility costs and tests associated with the now operating public sewage system. The majority of the revenue to offset the $85,000 in expenses will come from an anticipated $45,500 in user fees, $16,000 in connection fees and $11,295 in tipping fees.
No one spoke at a public hearing and second reading of the amendment at the November 2 meeting.
The town’s sewage system was in the spotlight in late October when the National On-Site Wastewater Recycling Association chose White Stone’s wastewater treatment plant as a site to tour and review during the association’s convention in Virginia Beach. A group from the conference toured….
