Lancaster schools highlight wins and long-term goals in response to newspaper ad

KILMARNOCK—In response to a full-page advertisement in the October 26 edition of the Rappahannock Record, superintendent Jessica Davis spent a significant part of the November 13 school board meeting highlighting key accomplishments in academics, employee retention and community engagement as well as highlighting plans to improve in the future. 

One of those new initiatives, a Family Literacy and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math Night, was taking place at the same time as the school board meeting. According to LES principal Keegan Walters, 175 students and family members were taking part in the event that included family educational activities along with dinner and childcare for younger ones. 

With the help of school administrators Martha Crittenden (standing in for ECEC director Amanda Ambrose), Walters and Mike Myers (LHS), the division highlighted activities that are enhancing day-to-day learning: family engagement nights, community partnerships with….
