Lois V. Harding

KILMARNOCK—Lois Virginia Harding, 94, of Kilmarnock passed away Monday, January 15, 2024.

She was born on March 9, 1929, to Linwood and Mabel Haynie Lewis. She grew up in Fairport and graduated from Reedville High School.

After graduation, she married the love of her life, Albert Carter Harding, at the age of 18. Together they raised two children. Lois was a loving wife, a loving mother and grandmother. She loved to cook, but loved to sew even more. She and Carter loved to dance, and would go to hear live music whenever they could.

Lois worked for many years at the Marks & Sullivan store in Kilmarnock. She and Carter loved to travel in their earlier years, making many trips abroad to see the world. When at home, Lois was very active at Grace Episcopal Church.

Lois is survived by her husband, Carter; two children, Albert Carter “Buddy” Harding Jr. (Sandy) of Powhatan and Patsy Harding of Kilmarnock. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Stephanie Harding, Jeffrey Harding, Tyler Harding; and six great-grandchildren.

Lois was predeceased by her parents, and three half-brothers in New Jersey.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 21, at Rehobeth Methodist Church on Shiloh School Road in Kilmarnock. Burial was private.
