LHS grapplers suffer tough stretch

Injuries led to holes in the lineup which led to a tough week for the Lancaster High School wrestling team.

The Red Devils lost three duals, including two at home on Wednesday, January 24, to Middlesex and Mathews. The Chargers edged LHS, 36-35, and the Blue Devils dominated LHS, 54-15. Lancaster also traveled to Warwick High School on Saturday, January 26 where the Devils suffered a 60-15 loss.

Lancaster wrestlers Ashby Russell (132), River Diaz (144), Hunter Sebra (150) and AP Pollard (157) each went 2-1 on the week. Ethan Parks (144) was 1-1.

The Devils held their senior night in the home tri-meet with Mathews and Middlesex, celebrating Sebra, Parks, Pollard and Ewan Scott.

The LHS wrestlers will begin their postseason run this week and were scheduled to host the Northern Neck District tournament on January 31. The Region A tournament will be held at LHS on February 10.
