
Four minutes and eight seconds into the Lancaster versus Northumberland varsity boys basketball game on Saturday, January 27, the crowd came to its feet. LHS junior guard Troy Henderson made his first goal of the game and the clock stopped. It was time to celebrate.
A week earlier on the road at Rappahannock High School, Henderson had broken a 25-year-old scoring record, but his coach had wanted to recognize the accomplishment at a home game.
Henderson has now shattered the record as he keeps piling on the points. He is now the all-time career scoring leader for Lancaster boys basketball. The previous record of 1,452 points was set in 1999 by Tyrell Veney.
Henderson broke that during Lancaster’s 84-32 win over Rappahannock January 17. He’s padded that record since and….
