Red Devils soar to the top in district and region rankings

Lancaster continued to soar through the Northern Neck District last week, capping a three-game series with a 49-point victory, 67-18, over Rappahannock on Friday, February 2. 

The Red Devils are ranked first in the Northern Neck District and Region 1A with a 16-2 overall record and will cap regular season play tomorrow, February 9, at Colonial Beach. Lancaster will host the Drifters at 6 p.m. on Monday, February 12, in a Northern Neck District tournament semifinal. Rappahannock and Westmoreland will meet in the other semifinal with the district championship Wednesday, February 14, at the higher seed of the two winners. 

The Raiders scored first in the opening seconds of last Friday’s game at LHS then were held scoreless until midway through the second quarter when John Jill hit a three-pointer. Lancaster had a commanding 37-5 lead at the half. 

With leading scorer Troy Henderson absent due to illness, Daveon Smith and Lamar Mattocks stepped up to combine for 41 points for….
