CA recognizes basketball teams

Chesapeake Academy (CA) athletic director Jane Allen and coaches David Dew and Tyler Colding recently presented seasonal athletic awards at a school assembly.

Certificates were distributed to all varsity and junior varsity boys basketball players and special awards recognized most improved and most valuable players as well as coach’s award recipients, reported head of school Trip Cogburn.

The most improved player award (MIP) goes to the athlete who has shown the most improvement from the first practice to the last event, said Cogburn. The coach’s award goes to the athlete who works the hardest every day in practice and in events, shows a strong desire to get better and who leads his or her teammates. The most valuable player (MVP) goes to the athlete whose contributions are deemed most valuable to the team.

Ospreys junior varsity basketball teammates Brantley Chance and Malcolm Sanders were named co-MVPs. Easton Minor earned MIP and Benton Miller received the coach’s award.

In varsity basketball, Baylen Miller and Jake Lewis were named co-MVPs. Sam Parker earned MIP and Nolan Pittman received the coach’s award.
