The Virginia High School League on June 12 announced its 2024 Class 1 all-state softball team. Both Rappahannock and Middlesex have players among the second-team selections.
Senior shortstop Taylor Clay of Eastside was chosen player of the year and her coach Suzi Atwood was named coach of the year. Eastside finished as the state runner up, losing 5-0 to Rye Cove in the championship game.
The Rye Cove Eagles placed five on the first team and Eastside also filled five spots along with capturing the two top honors.
Middlesex, which went 15-6-1 as a state quarterfinalist, named senior pitcher Magen Daniels and junior third baseman Courtney Jessie to the second team.
Rappahannock, which went 15-7-1 as a state semifinalist, had junior outfielder Kelsie Rogers selected to the second team.
