The Woman’s Club of Northumberland County, 2928 Northumberland Highway, Lottsburg will host a book signing by novelist Carolyn McBride at 1 p.m. Sunday, August 18. McBride will read passages from the book as well.
McBride, a former travel writer and editor, who grew up exploring the Potomac River, shares her passion for the Tidewater area in her debut novel, The Cicada Spring: A Potomac Shores Novel.
The book traces her journey as an empty nester, who finds herself at midlife, living in a river house on the banks of the Potomac, recovering from the loss of her mother, a failing marriage and a dubious future in her job during the COVID pandemic.
To free herself from her troubles, McBride decided to write about them and the idea blossomed into….
