Sheriff’s Report 08-22-24

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported a misdemeanor charge against one individual.


Coffee with a cop

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will host “coffee with a cop” at 9 a.m. Thursday, August 22, at Front Porch Coffeehouse, 139 South Main Street, Kilmarnock.

Members of the public are urged to meet and chat with law enforcement representatives.


A White Stone man, 25, was charged August 15 with revocation of suspension of sentence and probation.

Activity report

August 12: Staff responded to the 90 block of Queenstown Road for suspicious activity, to the 700 block of Christ Church Road for a verbal dispute, to Steamboat Road for a traffic complaint, to the 80 block of Kingfisher Circle for trespassing, to the 300 block of Devils Bottom Road for a verbal dispute, to the 100 block of Irvington Road for a disorderly person, and to the 500 block of North Main Street for a suspicious vehicle.

August 13: Staff responded to the 100 block of Doggett Lane for a suspicious person, to the 600 block of McSwain Road for an adult welfare check, to the 3000 block of Windmill Point Road for a disabled vehicle, to the 1100 block of Courthouse Road for a suspicious vehicle, to Mary Ball Road and Whites Lane for a disabled vehicle, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the road, and to the 6000 block of Mary Ball Road for a suspicious person.

August 14: Staff responded to the 100 block of School Street for legal advice, to Irvington and Old Salem roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 400 block of Twin Branch Road for an assault.

August 15: Staff responded to the 600 block of Black Stump Road for an adult welfare check, to Norris Bridge for a single-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 2000 block of Mary Ball Road for an adult welfare check.

August 16: Staff responded to the 100 block of Doggett Lane for suspicious activity, to the 2000 block of Weems Road for the report of a traffic crash involving a bicyclist; responded to the 100 block of Sullavans Road for the report of destruction of property; responded to the 100 block of White Chapel Road for the report of suspicious activity; responded to the 500 block of Mosquito Point Road for the report of trespassing; and responded to the 400 block of White Hall Road for the report of a tenant dispute.

August 17: Staff responded to Greys Point and Locklies Creek roads to assist Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office with traffic control, to the 500 block of Old Orchard Drive for a verbal dispute, to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for a larceny, to the 200 block of Fleets Bay Road for destruction of property, and to Norris Bridge for debris in the road.

August 18: Staff responded to the 900 block of Old Saint Johns Road for suspicious activity, to Paynes Creek Road for gunshots in the late evening hours, to Mary Ball and Peirces roads for a downed tree, to the 300 block of Twin Branch Road for an adult welfare check, to the 40 block of Windjammer Lane for a disorderly person, and to the 70 block of Peake Road for an irate person.

Staff also conducted 10 traffic stops, issued five summonses, recorded a deer strike accident, handled a request for traffic control, investigated five building alarms, logged three inmate transports, received nine E911 hang up calls, and fielded seven calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

The Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at 599 North Main Street and with the White Stone VFD to a brush fire at Weems Road and Elderberry Lane.
