Kane on point among 55 runners

Despite finishing fourth as a team, Lancaster High School led the individual racers with Matthew Kane pacing 55 male runners to win a five school cross country meet at Beaverdam Park in Gloucester on Wednesday, October 9.

Kane ran the race in 16:40 and teammate Josh Woolard placed third in 16:54.

Gavin Dustin of Mathews crossed the line between Kane and Woolard. He was 11 seconds behind Kane and just steps in front of Woolard. Dustin finished three seconds faster than Woolard with a time of 16:51. He led Mathews to a first-place team finish with a low 35 points.

Middlesex was second with 47 points, Northampton third with 78 and Lancaster fourth with 79. Essex did not have a full-five member team.
