Northumberland school board begins 2025-26 budget preparations

While it may feel like the school year has just gotten underway, the Northumberland County School Board is actively making preparations for the fiscal year 2025-26 school budget.

On Tuesday, October 15, the school board unanimously approved a 2025-26 budget calendar.

According to Tara Booth, from October 16-November 6, the board urges budget input from leadership teams, school employees, students, families and the community. An initial public hearing will be held November 11.

Following several work sessions, discussions and drafts, the presentation of the budget and its approval is slated for January 13, 2025.

School board members Betty Christopher, Cheryl Davis, Denise Mazyck, Dana O’Bier and Dave Curran approved the calendar, 5-0.

In other news, Douglas and Sharon Lemke shared an exciting opportunity for class of 2025 graduates.

On behalf of the Douglas and Sharon Lemke Education Foundation, the Lemkes announced that one Northumberland graduate will be awarded a $10,000 scholarship per year for four consecutive years to be applied toward college tuition….
