
KILMARNOCK—Floyd P. Tilley, known to all as “Skip,” passed away October 29, after a long illness. He was 85 years old.
He was an insurance professional for 40 years. Skip had so many loves and passions. He was a master builder, an avid sailor and a master woodworker.
He was instrumental in turning the Westmoreland Players into a full fledged theater as well as building sets for 20 years.
Skip was Court Appointed Special Advocate for children with CASA of the Northern Neck for 10 years helping children caught up in the legal system though no fault of their own.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Lester; his father, Preston Tilley; son, Forrest Tilley; and brother, R.J. Tilley.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Tilley; two stepsons, Gregory Fulcher and Benjamin Branscome; and six grandchildren.
Family and extended family will gather for a Celebration of Life from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, November 17 at Woodside Farms, 10447 Woodside Farms Drive, Glen Allen, immediately following from 3-5 p.m. the family will receive friends.
