In a Region 1A football semifinal Friday, November 22, the host Esex Trojans took a 58-0 lead at the half and went on to beat the Middlesex Chargers, 72-0, to earn a berth in the regional championship at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 30, in Warsaw.
Rappahannock will host Essex in an all-Northern Neck District region final, following a 56-14 semifinal win over Westmoreland last week. The Raiders finished the regular season as the top ranked team in Region A and are unbeaten at 12-0.
Essex is 11-1 with its only loss this season coming to Rappahannock.
