HEATHSVILLE—Carolyn Abbott Haynie of Heathsville passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024. She was 81.
She worked for many years in the banking industry, from The People’s Bank of White Stone to Bank of Virginia and lastly at Bank of Northumberland/EVB.
She was born in White Stone on March 9, 1943, to Lee and Salome Abbott. Carolyn lived her whole life in the Northern Neck.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Ray Haynie; her parents, Lee and Salome Abbott; sister, Elva C. Jacobsen; and brothers, Lee Abbott Jr., Floyd M. “Mac” Abbott, Roland E. “Ellie” Abbott, S. Alden “Oogie” Abbott and Irvin H Abbott.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Ginny Haynie; brother-in-law and lifelong friend, Douglas “Mac” Haynie (Sue); special niece, Marie Abbott; and furry companion, Buttercup.
Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, December 5, at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 6, at Currie. Interment will follow at Roseland Cemetery in Reedville.
She was the best Mom I could ever ask for and will be missed terribly.
