Alzheimer’s and Dementia workshop

Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia will be offered from 2-3 p.m. today, December 19, at Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock. Mary Arthur, lead options counselor for Caregiver Support, will make the presentation.

Learn about the impact of Alzheimer’s, the difference between dementia and Alzheimer’s, Alzheimer’s disease stages and risk factors, research and available treatments, as well as Alzheimer’s Association and Bay Aging resources.

Holiday show

The Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts On Stage series will continue at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 21, at the Lancaster Elementary School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock. The Sons of Serendip, a classical-crossover quartet, will perform a holiday show.

Winter Festival

The Addy’s Colors annual Winter Festival will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, December 22, at the DCA Building, 17147 General Puller Highway, Deltaville. The event will offer free family fun, face painting, a holiday movie, ornament crafts and pictures with Santa.

Families and children may also enjoy the Deltaville lights before or after the event.

Stratford men

Commemorating the Lives: The Lee Men of Stratford Hall weekend events will open January 18 with a special $5 admission day. Explore the Great House and grounds as Stratford Hall honors Francis Lightfoot Lee, Richard Henry Lee, Henry “Light-Horse Harry” Lee and Robert E. Lee.

The admission will cover the house and grounds for ages 6 and older. Admission is free for ages 5 and younger. Tickets may be purchased at the gate.

Lee Lecture

Dr. Caroline E. Janney will deliver the 2025 Lee Lecture at 2 p.m. January 19 in the Jessie Ball duPont Memorial Library at Stratford Hall Historic Preserve, 483 Great House Road, Stratford. Dr. Janney will present Unintended and Unexpected: Lee’s Army after Appomattox.

Chicken dinners

Chicken dinners will be available from 5-6:30 p.m. on first Mondays at American Legion Post #117, 39 School Street, Reedville.

Meals include fried chicken, mashed potatoes, choice of vegetables, salad, roll, dessert and drink. Dinners are $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 12 and younger, at the door.
