Planning commission endorses ‘grab-n-go’ seafood vendor plans for 55 Irvington Road

KILMARNOCK—A “grab-n-go” fresh and prepared seafood operation is on track to open this spring at 55 Irvington Road, behind the former Savannah Joe’s building.

On Monday, January 13, Kilmarnock zoning administrator Marshall Sebra informed the planning commission that Justin Cammarata and Brittany Shay had applied for a conditional use permit (CUP) to operate a mobile seafood business on a privately owned lot that deviates from the town’s standard mobile food operating policy.

According to Sebra, mobile food vendors are only allowed to park and operate in a location for 48 hours consecutively. Sebra said Cammarata seeks a full-time operation.

Cammarata has worked as a waterman his entire life.

“Our watermen really need the community support,” Shay said.

According to Shay, the business will operate with Cammarata supplying his own catch. They intend on selling fresh seafood, steamed crabs and other….
