HEATHSVILLE—With the Northumberland County Public Schools finances in disarray—including the turnover of key financial personnel, a troubling forensic audit, and special education funding at risk—supervisors on Thursday, March 27, directed county administrator Luttrell Tadlock to set up a joint meeting among supervisors, assistant superintendent Dr. Karen Leslie and the school board to discuss taking over the school finances.
While making the motion, supervisor James Brann reasoned, “All due respect, there’s a lot going on over there. They are in over their head and things haven’t gotten any better. It would work better if it was all under one umbrella.”
