Northumberland completes work on $7 million capital improvement plan

HEATHSVILLE—Following a public hearing without comment, the Northumberland planning commission on Thursday, April 17, recommended a capital improvement plan for fiscal years 2026-2030 totaling $7,028,524.

As proposed the plan includes $3,904,008 for 2026; $1,018,345 for 2027; $1,286,569 for 2028; $318,301 for 2029 and $501,301 for 2030. The plan now goes to supervisors for an additional public hearing and vote.

For the upcoming 2025-26 fiscal year, requests include $525,000 for emergency medical services which would be covered by insurance reimbursement fees. The county would need to find the funds for the remaining $3,379,008, which includes $370,529 for the sheriff’s office, $256,257 for the sanitation district, $1,450,000 for county administration and $1,302,222 for the schools.
