
The Nutshell racing season opener took place May 10 at Glebe Point on the Great Wicomico River.
Winds were from the north-northwest at 9-11 knots with gusts up to 23 knots making for exciting and unpredictable outcomes in the races, reported Ellen Sagan. There were five racers and four riders races were run.
Mike Saunders had an impressive performance going from “tortoise award winner” to a first, two thirds and a fourth-place for an overall finish of third.
The winds were so unpredictable that there were many surprise finishes where leaders were overtaken at the finish line….
