Stripers members complete 11th Rappahannock River crossing, Bay swim is next

The Stripers swim team recently swam their 11th crossing of the Rappahannock River.

Charlotte Hollings finishes up her double crossing with John Dunn in the kayak.

The choppy conditions and colder than normal water temperatures kept the numbers down, reported Charlotte Hollings. Five swimmers started from Middlesex, where the conditions were the most turbulent and swam across to White Stone. Emma and Leigh Purcell, Ed Pierce, Wayne Lannon and Martha Little completed the crossing one way. Three others swam over and back, Andy Brown, John O’Shaughnessy and Hollings.

Brown, O’Shaughnessy, Hollings, Pierce and Jim Miller plan to swim the 4.4 mile Chesapeake Bay Bridge Swim on….
