Lancaster electoral board at odds with county over office space

LANCASTER—Members of the Lancaster County Electoral Board say they have been waiting for months for the county to take action on a growing problem—mold within the voter registration office. Board members say the health issue led to the temporary closure on June 25 and relocation of the voter registration office to the Office of the Circuit Court Clerk.

During a Wednesday, July 9, meeting of the electoral board, chairman Barbara Breeden outlined steps taken by the board since bringing the issue to the attention of county administrator Don Gill in the fall of 2024. In the collective statement, electoral board members—Breeden, vice-chairman Jeremy Taylor and secretary James Symons—said they closed the voter registration office in the county administration building “very, very, reluctantly” and after “inaction and lack of concern or cooperation from….
