Herbert B. Hammock

BURGESS—Herbert Booker Hammock, 74, of Burgess died July 31, 2017, at his home with his family. He was retired from the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Department and was owner and operator of Hammocks Print Shop.

Mr. Hammock was a member of Fairport Baptist Church and an active member of Fairfields Volunteer Fire Department for 53 years and a life member as of this year. He held many offices in the fire department and also in the Rappahannock Fire Association. He was an active member of Northumberland Rescue Squad for 35 years and a life member for 25 years.

He also was a member of the Hacks Neck Hunt Club.

Mr. Hammock is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Eskridge Hammock; three step daughters, Judy N. Hudnall (Rob) of Heathsville, Robin N. Augst (Mark) of Burgess, Krista N. Keyser (Greg) of Burgess; one grandson, Derick Hudnall (Katy) of Burgess; four granddaughters, Halle K. Cullison (Robbie) of Warsaw, Kelsey Keyser of Burgess, Paige Augst of Burgess and Macey Augst of Burgess; one great grandson, Robert Lee Hudnall of Burgess; one aunt, Mildred Hollowell of Belhaven, N.C.; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Selma Hammock.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 4, at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. Interment will follow the service at Roseland Cemetery, Reedville. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 3, at the funeral home.
