IRVINGTON—Elaine Dorothy Hinzpenter Lowrey, 81, of Irvington passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025.
She was born in New York City, the beloved daughter of Louise and Edward Hinzpeter, and sister to Edward Hinzpeter. She later moved to Georgetown, D.C., and then to Potomac, Md. Elaine was the devoted wife of Bill Lowrey, cherished mother of Bruce and Peter, and proud grandmother to Tristen, Eliza, Paige and Katherine.
A graduate of Spellman Junior College, Elaine was an active member of Congressional Country Club, where she enjoyed golf, tennis and socializing with friends. She delighted in planning and leading family vacations in the Hamptons and on ski trips. In 1990, she and her family moved to Kilmarnock, where she became a member of Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club and was a gracious hostess for countless gatherings at her home.
Elaine founded her own successful business, Elaine Lowrey Interior Design, after graduating from the New York School for Interior Design. She was highly regarded for her work on both commercial and residential projects, known for creating timeless spaces with high-quality materials and a keen sense of fashion.
Elaine was admired for her grace, poise and personal touch, and she was always impeccably dressed. Her warmth, love for her family and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Plans for a memorial service will be shared soon.
In lieu of flowers, cards, or gifts, the family asks you to spend some time outside without your phone and hug your loved ones.
