Honors science research students pursue projects on Urbanna Creek

Science department chairman Franklin Bell leads an honors science research class at Christchurch School. The project-based course is open to juniors and seniors.

The class collaborates on long-term research projects, such as monitoring water quality in Urbanna Creek or measuring carbon sequestration in campus trees, reported communications assistant Jennifer Homer.

In October, the class spent five hours studying Urbanna Creek’s ecology and collecting population size and health data for two of Restore Urbanna Creek’s oyster reefs.
