Supervisors show interest in plans and potential amenities for county-owned properties

LANCASTER—At the November 20 board of supervisors meeting, organizations presented a variety of ideas that would utilize county-owned property for the benefit of the community and accomplish some of the goals of the Lancaster 2035 strategic plan regarding quality of life.

Three organizations presented plans for utilizing county-owned property near the new high school and one organization proposed using parts of the current high school. Supervisors voted 3-0 in support of the plans and authorized the county to move forward with memorandums of understanding (MOU). William Smith, Ernest Palin and Bill Lee voted in favor. Craig Giese and Jason Bellows were absent.

County attorney Jim Cornwell told the groups to “understand when you sign an MOU with the county, it has to remain flexible on the county’s part. We don’t know what the county’s needs are going to be….
