School budget tweaking continues following hearing in Northumberland

CLARAVILLE—The Northumberland school board on Wednesday, January 21, conducted a public hearing on the fiscal year 2026-27 budget process and its proposals.

Volunteer financial facilitator Karen Pica discussed methodology as well as numerical figures in terms of the 2026-27 school budget, citing the current $21,856,726 budget as the base figure they have used for estimating the next budget. This figure as well as the upcoming budget discussion excludes the nutrition budget.

Pica noted the budget development this year has been a little different than years past. The finance team looked through all the account lines in the school system and analyzed….
