Weather weary
Snow flurries on Friday evening brought a dusting to the lower Northern Neck on top of the ice that just wouldn’t go away. But high winds on Saturday, February 7, packed a wallop. The Virginia Department of Transportation posted a high wind advisory for the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge, advising high-profile vehicles not to cross the bridge. VDOT was prepared to post bridge closure notices if winds reached 45 mph or above for periods of 15 minutes. Isolated weather-related power outages throughout the Northern Neck kept utility crews busy on Saturday and frigid temperatures continued through Sunday. Photo by Robert Mason Jr.
