Supervisors approve plans for Harpers Creek Park restaurant

LANCASTER—While a grand opening for Harpers Creek Park is scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, another amenity will be coming to the park later.

Lancaster supervisors on Thursday, March 26, voted 5-0 to approve a special exception request by Stay The Course LLC to operate a restaurant at the park.

Planning and land use director Olivia Hall said staff had found no conformance issues with the zoning ordinance, the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act (CBPA) or the erosion and sediment control ordinance.

The CBPA “allows the encroachment within the 100-foot Resource Protection Area” because the restaurant building, previously a proposed bait and snack shop, “met the definition of a water-dependent facility,” said Hall.
