‘A Community Strong Christmas’ parade is Friday in Kilmarnock

KILMARNOCK—The Lancaster by the Bay Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Town of Kilmarnock, will host the 43rd Kilmarnock Lighted Christmas Parade at 7 p.m., Friday, December 9.

The theme is “A Community Strong Christmas,” reported Chamber executive director Sydney Moss Walters.

Christmas parade co-chairmen Justin Burke and Stacey Akers are excited to celebrate small-town strength, perseverance and unity through this year’s theme. The parade will honor community heroes and be led by local firefighters. The Chamber and parade committee thank all local first responders for their sacrifice and commitment to strengthening our community.

The parade is presented by Dominion Energy, along with other sponsors: Blue Ridge Bank, Tri-Star Supermarket, Isabell K. Horsley Real Estate, Elbourn Electrical Services and Two Rivers Communications.

The parade route extends from Chesapeake Commons Shopping Center and along Main Street to the Steptoe’s District. Marching units will continue towards Blue Ridge Bank while motorized units will turn onto Irvington Road and continue towards James B. Jones Memorial Highway. The parade is expected to last approximately an hour.
