A new year may bring more broadband to Northumberland

HEATHSVILLE—For Northumberland residents anxiously awaiting broadband, there is some good news coming out of the November 10 board of supervisors meeting.

“The last mile construction, which will get into neighborhoods and prepare us to connect to customers, will begin in the first quarter” of 2023, according to Tom Innes, vice president of business development for All Points Broadband.

Innes provided an update on the regional broadband project with partners Dominion Energy and Northern Neck Electric Cooperative at the request of the board. Since the last progress report in March, he said they are “not where they would like to be” with last mile construction, but they have made “a tremendous amount of progress on the pole attachment process and the make-ready….
