The Rappahannock Concert Association will present a Duke Ellington Tribute at 7:30 p.m. March 16 at the Northumberland County Schools Performing Arts Theater, 201 Academic Lane, Heathsville.
Pianist, bandleader, composer Duke Ellington was a giant in the jazz and swing music environment worldwide for 50 years, and since his death in 1974, his influence has continued, reported public relations committee chairman Nellie Landrum. He gained national attention through his orchestra’s appearances at the Cotton Club in Harlem.
