Sheriffs’ Reports 3-07-19

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against two individuals.

A Weems woman, 46, was charged February 27 with cruelty to animals-generally, failure to have a dog license and failure to have a dog vaccinated for rabies.

A Weems man, 55, was charged February 27 with cruelty to animals-generally and with maiming, killing or poisoning animals, second offense.

Activity report

February 25: Staff responded to the 300 block of John’s Neck Road for the report of a possible suicidal person, to a walk-in report of harassment by another and a traffic violation, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a traffic hazard from debris in the highway, and to the 1700 block of Windmill Point Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash.

February 26: Staff responded to a walk-in report of threats made to harm another, to a walk-in report of obtaining money by false pretenses and grand larceny, to the 700 block of Old Orchard Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash with injuries, and to the Kilmarnock area for an unlicensed intoxicated driver with children in the vehicle.

February 27: Staff responded to the 100 block of King Carter Drive for obtaining money by false pretenses and grand larceny.

February 28: Staff responded to the 10500 block of Jessie duPont Memorial Highway for a reckless driver-speeding over 90 mph, to the 100 block of Morattico Road for a possible overdose of pills, to Mary Ball Road and Avis Trail for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 100 block of Hatton Avenue to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a domestic disturbance, to Black Stump Road for two off road vehicles racing down the highway, to the 3200 block of Irvington Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash with property damage, to the 100 block of East Cove Lane for violation of a protective order.

March 2: Staff responded to Miskimon Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 3000 block of Lara Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 200 block of Richtown Road for a possible overdose, to the 100 block of Williams Mill Lane for suspicious activity, to the 100 block of Gemini Road for burglary and the theft of household items, and to the 200 block of Old Fairgrounds Way for a domestic disturbance.

March 3: Staff responded to the 300 block of North Main Street to assist KPD with threats made to harm another, to the 200 block of Pinckardsville Road for a domestic disturbance involving alcohol, to the 100 block of Dogwood Road to check the welfare of the resident after receiving a report from a relative with concerns, to a walk-in report of threats made to harm another and to the 500 block of Chesapeake Drive for an extremely intoxicated person acting aggressively.

Staff also conducted 12 traffic stops, issued nine summonses, assisted eight motorists, recorded three deer strike accidents, handled five calls for traffic control, investigated a building alarm, processed a mental health order, logged two inmate transports, received seven E911 hang-up calls and fielded two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire-mutual aid request on Whays Creek Road.

White Stone VFD responded to a traffic crash on Windmill Point Road.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a traffic crash on Old Orchard and a traffic crash on Miskimon Road.

Northumberland County Sheriff James R. “Doc” Lyons this week reported charges against three individuals.

Felonies

Ernest James Polk Jr., 30, of Callao was charged February 27 with possession of a Schedule I or II drug and possession of marijuana, first offense.

Pearley L. Blue Jr., 51, of Norfolk was charged March 3 with felony driving revoked, habitual offender. He also was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving.

Misdemeanor

A Callao man, 30, was charged February 26 with being drunk in public.
