Actors, tech crew and support staff prepare for show opening

Rehearsals for The Lancaster Players production of “The 39 Steps: A Live Radio Play” by Joe Landry are nearing completion as the company readies for the March 11 opening night.

Eleven actors, with Jacqueline Allen as director, are working to bring to life a mystery-drama-comedy in the style of a vintage 1940s radio drama.

“Audiences are relatively unaware of all of the people involved in a show,” said community relations coordinator Karen Stanley. “There are about six volunteers for every actor on stage.” 

It takes nearly 50 volunteers for wait staff, ushers, bartenders and kitchen staffers.  Adding to that number are the set, lighting and sound designers as well as the crew for set construction. Others are involved with….
