Junior running back Kevin Dameron of Essex and junior linebacker Cole Settliff of Colonial Beach captured the Northern Neck District’s top football honors last week.
Dameron, who rushed for 863 yards and 17 touchdowns during the regular season to lead Essex to a Region 1A East playoff berth, was named the district’s offensive player of the year.
Todd Jones, who led the Trojans to a 9-1 overall record and unblemished 5-0 district mark for a first place regional seed, was chosen by his peers as the coach of the year.
Settliff, who helped lead Colonial Beach to a 4-1 district and 7-3 overall mark, was named the defensive player of the year.
