LANCASTER—As the result of pushback from neighbors and supervisors, a plan to use a Mifarm Road property for large gatherings was withdrawn by the owner, Valerie Jones, following a public hearing at the Thursday, September 24, Lancaster board of supervisors meeting.
However, supervisors approved a special exception for short-term rentals on the property.
Jones originally wanted to use the 12.43-acre property at 244 Mifarm Road as an unhosted short-term rental for up to 12 overnight guests as well as hosted special events—up to 12 annually, for 20-100 people. She said the proceeds of the event rentals would go towards Valtoura, which provides sport travel experiences for people with disabilities. The property also would be used for meetings and adaptive sports training days.
