The Animal Welfare League of the Northern Neck (AWL) recently announced its Paw-some Reads project, led by volunteer Wanda Little and supported by a grant from River Counties Community Foundation, has completed delivery of 412 humane education books to the five elementary schools in the Northern Neck.
Each classroom received three books and stuffed animals and each library received copies of the books.
“We recognize that educating our youngest citizens to respect and care for animals is essential to realizing a great community,” said president Sara Ford. “The Paw-some Reads project promotes kindness and compassion for our animals which, in turn, encourages kindness and empathy to all of us who live here, making our community greater than ever.”
