Barbara A. Baxter

Barbara A. Baxte

IRVINGTON—Sad news for all of us, but good news for Barbara Andrews Baxter, 91, of Irvington; she is now in the arms of our Loving Father Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Barbara was born December 22, 1932, in Chesterfield County to Rebecca and Ernest Andrews. She graduated from Petersburg High School and became a banker.

At the age of 19, Barbara married Donald S. Baxter, her high school sweetheart. They traveled all over the world. Donald passed away while they were living in Maryland and Barbara then moved to the Northern Neck to be closer to her sister. She settled in Hills Quarter in Irvington.

Barbara never met a stranger. She loved to read, travel and do volunteer work for Hills Quarter. Most of all she loved her church, Irvington Baptist Church, where she was a member and a faithful worker.

Barbara is survived by her sister, Deanie A. Whelan (John M. Whelan Jr.); her two nephews, Keith Whelan (Lisa) and Troy Whelan (Donna); and four great-nieces, Jordan, Jenna, Julia and Jaden Whelan. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Helen (Becky) Fleshman; niece, Jennifer Powell (Chris); great-nephew, Ryan Powell; and great-niece, Megan Powell.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 29, at Irvington Baptist Church. Family received friends an hour prior to the service. Interment will be private at Southlawn Memorial Park on January 4.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Irvington Baptist Church, PO Box 417, Irvington, VA 22480.

For all of you who knew Barbara, she is now bright eyed and bushy tailed.

Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
