Bethel Preschool helps community

by Lauren Brent

The students of Bethel Preschool had a busy October discussing and practicing the theme: Community helpers.

The month started with the children learning about fire safety and what to do in case of an emergency. They learned songs and practiced fire drills.

The week ended with a special visit from Taylor Haynie, a member of the Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department and one of the preschool parents. He talked to the children about what to do in case of a fire and how children should never play with matches or lighters. The kids then got a special treat and were able to see Firefighter Haynie dressed in full fire gear and were able to see and sit in a real fire truck.

The following week the 4-year-old class went on a field trip to visit a few community helpers in Lively.
