Billy Boykin took home the top prize of $2,500 in the 14th annual Dream Fields Spanish Mackerel Fishing Tournament on Saturday, August 20.
Boykin, fishing aboard Mystic Lady, captured the overall first prize with a four-fish aggregate weight of 10.60 pounds.
According to director Amy Forrester, 82 boats fished in the one-day tournament, which benefits Dream Fields and the Lancaster County Little League. Prize money is based on a 60-boat minimum.
“It wasn’t a record number of boats, but it was a good group,” said Forrester. “The weather forecast was looking very questionable on Thursday and I think that kept a few away. But it turned out to be a beautiful day to fish.”
The tournament’s special anglers division returned after a two-year COVID-19 hiatus.
“We were so happy to have the Special Anglers back after two years. They were all fishing aboard Liquid Assets,” said Forrester.
In the overall division, Earnie Wells aboard Knot Right was the runner-up….
