The fifth annual Northumberland-Lancaster Christmas Bird Count, sponsored by the Northern Neck Chapter of the National Audubon Society, will be observed Tuesday, December 15.
A count involves counting as many birds—different species and total numbers—in a 15-mile diameter circle. The center of the circle is between Kilmarnock and Wicomico Church, so the area stretches from Reedville to Irvington and the Chesapeake Bay to just west of Lancaster.
Volunteers are needed. For pointers, go to www.northenneckaudubon.squarespace.com and look under Events – Christmas Bird Count. To participate, contact CBC coordinator Jeff Wright at [email protected].
