Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury will host its sixth annual Blessing of the Animals at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, at the RWC Chesapeake Center, 132 Lancaster Drive, Irvington.
The blessings and prayers are for pets and all animals of the world by their presence or by photos. Known as the patron saint of animals, St. Francis of Assisi is also known for his love of ecology and all of God’s creatures. The feast of St. Francis of Assisi is customarily held on October 4 of each year.
