Board makes quick change for urgent repairs on bus garage

HEATHSVILLE—At the request of the schools, the Northumberland board of supervisors on Thursday, January 12, rescinded a November 10 vote approving an $85,575 proposal from Twin Rivers Roofing to repair and replace the bus garage roof.

According to schools director of finance Tara Booth, the company reported “it would not install the roofing described in its proposal” and the school board had sent a letter terminating the agreement with the company. Due to the condition of the roof and the urgency in getting it repaired, the board voted 5-0 to approve a previous $91,750 proposal by Colonial Roofing, with work to begin in approximately a month. County administrator Luttrell Tadlock noted that the capital improvement plan includes $100,000 for the project.
